Living donor transplant offers significant survival and quality-of-life benefits compared to deceased donor transplantation; however, living donation remains underutilized due to barriers that extend beyond medical eligibility. This presentation examines the living donor journey through a psychosocial framework, highlighting how motivations, family dynamics, healthcare system processes, and structural factors influence donor decision-making and outcomes. Drawing on clinical experience and current literature, this presentation explores key stages of the donor journey – from initial consideration through long-term post-donation life.
